Penn’s Landing and the Independence Seaport Museum

This waterfront area along the Delaware River commemorates William Penn’s arrival in Philadelphia aboard the Welcome in 1682. The cultural institutional anchor of the waterfront is the Independence Seaport Museum which seeks to deepen understanding, appreciation and experience of the Philadelphia region’s waterways through history, science, and art, plus experiences on the water.
